ENGAGEMENT SESSIONS
A golden hour engagement session at
Lake Elmo Park Reserve
There is something so special about the season before the wedding day.
The anticipation. The little moments that make this chapter yours. The excitement of planning a wedding while dreaming about the life you're preparing to build together.
And somewhere in the middle of it all, there is a chance to slow down, step away from the to-do lists, and simply enjoy being engaged.
For Charlie and Eva, we spent an evening together at Lake Elmo Park Reserve, surrounded by beautiful natural scenery and the warm colors of the season. We wandered, laughed, and made space for the kind of moments that happen when two people get to simply be together.
Because before the wedding day arrives,
there is this season, too. And it deserves to be
remembered.

One of my favorite things about outdoor engagement sessions is the freedom to slow down and explore.
There's no timeline to rush through and no pressure for every moment to look a certain way. We can walk a little farther, stop when the light catches just right, and let the session unfold naturally.
Lake Elmo Park Reserve gave Charlie and Eva room to do just that, with open landscapes, beautiful natural textures, and quiet little pockets that made each part of the evening feel different.
Sometimes, all you need is a beautiful place, a little movement, and your favorite person beside you.

If there's one thing I hope my couples take away from their engagement session, it's that they don't have to know how to pose or have everything figured out before they step in front of my camera.
You don't have to be models. You don't have to know what to do with your hands. And you certainly don't have to spend the entire session looking at the camera.
Sometimes, the best photographs happen between the poses.
In a shared laugh. In the way you naturally lean toward each other. In the little expressions that come out when you're comfortable enough to forget you're being photographed.
Those are the moments I love most, because they feel like you.

Of course there is something beautiful about the quieter moments too.
The way you hold one another a little closer, the smiles that linger after a kiss.
The moments where everything around you seems to fade into the background
just a little bit longer.
I want your photographs to feel beautiful, but I also want them to feel honest.
Not like a version of your relationship created for the camera, but like a glimpse into the
way you love each other in real life.

When you look back on your engagement photographs someday, I hope you remember more than what you wore or what the scenery looked like.
I hope you remember the feeling of this season. The anticipation of the wedding day.
The conversations about your future. The excitement of knowing that life is about to change in the most beautiful ways.
These photographs become little reminders of the people you were at this moment in your story,
before the wedding day and all the chapters that will follow

The wedding day will bring it's own beautiful memories; the vows, the people gathered to celebrate,
and the beginning of married life.
But, this season matters too!
It's the chapter where you are still fiances, making plans and imagining everything
that lays ahead. It's a season full of anticipation, little traditions and ordinary days that may not feel
extraordinary until you look back on them years later.
Charlie and Eva, thank you for letting me document this part of your story. I hope these photos bring you
back to this season and remind you of the excitement, the joy and the love that
carried you both toward your wedding day.
